Leaves!

For our final project in drawing class, we had to draw leaves. We had to draw nine 4x4 squares and then draw the same leaf in each box using techniques we learned in class. At first, I thought it would be very boring to draw leaves...but, once I started drawing them, I really enjoyed it. I think my final drawing turned out pretty nice!

Time Capsule Perspective

Here is a perspective of what my time capsule will look like in its place. Meg and I are partners for the final time capsule design. Origanlly, the boxes were wider. We decided to make the boxes thinner so that it only has enough room for everyone's sketchbook.

Another Shading Exercise

I am not sure I can handle anymore shading activities! That's all we've been doing for about 3 weeks straight! Other than that, I think this is an alright exercise.

Sketch Model Shading

The two sketch models I chose for my time capsule are sculptures. The top one is supposed to represent the chaos and stress IARc students feel. The bottom one shows that time is always continuing..even though we feel like we don't have enough time to finish projects, time is still ticking away.

Anne of Windy Poplars

I wasn't sure if I liked this drawing at first. Mainly because of the lady's eyes. Her face was so tiny--it is hard to draw eyes small! But, once I started looking at it I really like it. I drew this from a postcard that my roomate had. The postcard was of the Anne of Green Gable's series.

Shading a Still-Life

This shading activity is another one from the book. The more I look at it, the more I like it.

An Organized Room

I did these drawings because I was bored and felt like drawing something. These are both in my best friend's bedroom. I really enjoyed drawing both of these because I really took my time and concentrated. My roommate and I were having a good ole time just talking and listening to music while each of us were still doing work. Now that I have a sketchbook (or two!), I like to find just about anything and just draw it!

A Pencil Box

This particular project was to design a well-crafted box to hold pencils. I decided I wanted to make something very clean and simple. I concentrated more on making straight edges and clean corners. As you can tell in my pictures my first iteration had a tray to hold pencils. My original plan was to make little sections to hold various items, but I thought that made the box too busy. For my final box, I chose to use textured pale green paper. I liked how the color looked on my box..not too much, not too little. Then, I decided that the pale green was too simple, so I added a patterned paper with a touch of color on the inside. It sort of is a surprise when you open the box because you wouldn't expect the patterned paper! I really enjoyed making this project...and plus, I am planning to use my box for my own person use=)

Watercolor

Lately I have been using watercolors on some of my drawings. I have really enjoyed this..just how the colors look on the paper and how the colors make the drawing look so well.
I drew my bag in class one day while I was sitting around and thought it would be cool to give it some color. I think the colors made the drawing look totally different. The top picture is of a woman that was on my prismacolor postcard. I really love how the colors look, so many different shades. I also like how the pen marks look with the watercolors! I think I did a successful job!

Place for an Egg

For this particular project, we were to choose any kind of egg and decide on a quality that the egg showed. Then, we had to make a place for the egg out of just paper. This was meaning no glue, no tape, nothing but just paper. I decided to focus on the shape of the egg. I rounded the edges to mirror the curves of the egg.

Where are my keys??

At the beginning of class today we had to draw our keys. I had a really fun time drawing this particular assignment because I actually concentrated hard on the detail and lines of my keys. It makes it easier for me to draw when I can look closely at an object and get a good view of the details! I have so many little things on my keychain, I thought it really helped this drawing.

Upside down bicycle?

I thought that drawing a bike would be sooo hard, but actually it wasn't that bad. Once I got into drawing the bike, I really enjoyed it. I really concentrated on the details and I think my drawing turned out pretty good!

A search for a blog. .. . ..

While searching through many blogs, I found that Andrea Joseph was my favorite. I really like how she takes everyday things and draws them. Purses, plants, pencils, shoes are just a few examples. My favorite drawing are her purses. They look so realistic. The colors, shading, and light all help her drawings look real.
