I saw this tree on my way back home from school and thought it would be a perfect part of my leaf series! Most of the tree was bright green but the edges were turning to a bright shade of orange and yellow. The colors were vibrant against the clear blue sky.
I decided to do a little twist to this sketch...not sure if I like it. hmm.
Here is series two of my leaf sketches. I found this amazing leaf in my Grandma's driveway. I couldn't resist it and just had to pick it up. The colors are just so vibrant and beautiful and what more can I say, it just makes my love of Fall grow even more. Oh, and look at those edges...aren't they just wonderful...ahhh.
The season is changing to Fall and that means it's my favorite time of the year. The leaves are already changing its colors and I'm hoping to capture how the leaves change during the Fall season.
This year I am one of the teaching assistants for the first year drawing class. Every year one of the first morning exercises is to draw each others feet in 30 minutes.
I have moved into a new house this summer. I'm in love with it. My favorite part of the house is definitely the fireplace! I will just say it took a lot of bottles of wine (and next morning headaches) to make the mantle look so fabulous. Definitely worth it, though.
For the first time ever, I went to a strawberry farm today and picked a huge amount of berries! It was a lovely experience--the smell, the colors, voices of small children. While I was washing all of the strawberries, I almost felt like doing this scene from Across the Universe!
I am finally done with renderings, sketchup, podium, 3dsmax, late nights, no sleep, wall sections, floor plans, elevations, sections, and lastly my second year of iARC! wooo
The last program that I learned in my visual communication class was called 3Dsmax which is a program that deals with lighting. Let's just say, this program was very frustrating and I am glad that it is over with!
One thing I have recently started to love is cooking! My roomate and I usually cook taco's on a weekly basis..it's so quick and easy to make. I had to get my sketchbook out and draw this..the colors are so bright and appealing. I decided to spice up my drawing by rendering it in photoshop...which I really, really enjoy doing! This taco almost looks so good that you could eat it...
In my visual communications class, we have now been working in a program called podium, which is a plug in to sketch up. This particular program focuses on lighting, which helps create a realtisc feel of your space. I found podium to be a challenge for my particular project, in that my space is mostly open and uses natural light. The lighting also seems to make my space look non-realistic..but, I may just need to practice with it more!
I don't usually watch sports that often, but I do enjoy watching the championship games (which also means that the game's season will be over)! As everyone knows, the UNC tarheels won the NCAA this year (I am a tarheel fan)! I had a lot of fun drawing from the television screen even though it can be frustrating since the players move around so much!
The other night, I went to see my new friend perform her music at Tate Street Coffee (she was great) and I decided that it was the perfect time and place to pull out my sketchbook! I rendered this drawing with something I have never done before...photoshop! My marker rendering skills really helped me out with this drawing...and I am pretty proud of how it turned out. I guess you could say that I've been trying new things...meeting new people and using new media!
I haven't worked with watercolor in a while. I think I need some more practice with it! The top image is a page from my sketchbook and was drawn while in my materials class. Apparently, I like to draw drink bottles..
The bottom one was drawn at the arboretum. You can really tell that Spring is arriving soon..all of the trees are starting to get buds. Some have already bloomed!
Greensboro finally got a pretty good amount of snow Monday [up to 5-8 inches], which made me feel like a kid again since I was so excited! This snow day provided extra time for me to work on a place to bathe. It also allowed for me and my roomates to wander off to campus and the Greensboro Arboretum to snap a bundle of photos.
Monday and Wednesday we had our critiques for the dining rooms we designed. I caught myself drawing a thing or two during my other classmate's critiques. I drew the bottom one during my two hour break between classes...
